“You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Till It’s Gone”
There are more than 144,000,000 women in the United States. Thirty-three million of them are fifty-five years old or older. These thirty-three million women will live another twenty-eight years, fully one-third of their lives, without hormones. There are approximately 65,000,000 women who are menopausal and an unknown number without live-giving hormones.
WRONG THINKING: You can be just as healthy without sex hormones (or health hormones).
That just isn’t true. We need sex hormones for a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Thierry Hertoghe, a very well respected, internationally known third-generation endocrinologist, said, “Lack of hormones is what is truly dangerous.” Please read that sentence again: “Lack of hormones is what is truly dangerous.”
What Dr. Hertoghe is saying has two very significant implications\
- FIRST, if you have hormone deficiencies, you must get treatment. Your life literally depends on it.
- SECOND, if you are a medical professional, it is your responsibility to treat patients who have hormone deficiencies. To simply prescribe pills that mask those symptoms is not responsible for treatment.
The problem physicians faced after the Women’s Health Initiative Trial was that many wrongly interpreted the dangers associated with traditional hormone replacement using Premarin and Provera to apply to all types of hormone replacement. The thought of “hormone replacement” has developed such a negative connotation that the majority of physicians have turned away from any kind of hormone replacement treatment.
